Early in my career, I learned the importance of what have become the three pillars of my leadership philosophy: consistent collaboration, clear communication, and sound decision making.
I began my technology integration career as a teacher in the Rochester City School District. What began as an effort to digitize my classroom led to the creation and curation of a online resource library for the district social studies department. My next big opportunity was to assist with the rollout and implementation of a new district student management system. I had the benefit of professionally "growing up" during the formative years of educational technology integration and have taken advantage of learning and leadership opportunities throughout nearly twenty years of service.
As a school district technology director, my leadership has given me the opportunity to guide the development of a long term technology plan, facilitate a 3,000 device 1:1 initiative, and collaboratively lead the creation of a flexible, differentiated, & authentic technology professional development program for staff. Perhaps most importantly, I led the organic process to uncover the shared beliefs and core values that would eventually craft the district technology mission statement, which guides all the work above.
As a lifelong learner, I completed my Doctorate in Educational Leadership in 2014. My dissertation research was on organizational decision making, specifically with regard to improving contemporary student literacies (digital, media, ICT) in high school students.
Someday I'll probably need this website. For now, feel free to browse the podcasts and my Twitter feed. Or reach out to discuss a topic of interest. Until then...
